Biographical sketch for John Wills Lloyd, Ph.D.
John Wills Lloyd is a professor in the Curry School of Education at the University of
Virginia. Since 1978, he has been on the faculty of the Curry School teaching in special
education, research methods, and technology and conducting research on Learning
Disabilities and Emotional and Behavior Disorders. Most of his research has focused on
the academic and social problems experienced by students with disabilities and how those
problems can be addressed effectively. He is the author or editor of about a half-dozen books, dozens of chapters in books, and scores of journal articles. In addition to his
scholarly work, he has served as president of the Division for Research and the Division for
Learning Disabilities of the Council for Exceptional Children, and he has developed
multiple Internet resources promoting the use of effective instructional practices. From
1999-2005 he held the position of Chief Technology Officer for the Curry School of
Education, promoting the use of technology in the school's academic and administrative
efforts.
